Teaching Schools have been established in order that schools and groups of schools take increasing responsibility for managing the school system. The West Cumbria Teaching School Alliance (WCTSA) focuses in particular on the following areas:
Ensuring recruitment and retention of high quality graduates who wish to train to be primary or secondary teachers (through School Direct).
Offering a range of opportunities to train across high performing schools in different contexts and age ranges.
Providing training for staff wishing to progress in their careers into middle and senior leadership roles.
Selecting experienced and highly skilled practitioners wishing to train as Specialist Leaders of Education. Their role will be to provide support to schools who have identified a need, or require support.
Ensuring that there are opportunities for staff to undertake research, and to gain higher qualifications.
There are a wide variety and types of schools in our Alliance, and we have the advantage of being in a beautiful part of the country, where there are great opportunities for work and recreation
The 5 Strategic Partners are – Bridekirk Dovenby Primary School, Mayfield Special School, Keswick School, St Patrick’s RC Primary School in Cleator Moor and Cockermouth School.
