English Teacher

I feel very fortunate to have chosen this path into teaching. This bespoke course has been made by people who really know what they are doing, and who are really clued up on what’s happening at the cutting edge of teaching. The placements take place in great schools, and the PGCE content is elite.

RE Teacher

Well what can I say? I have absolutely loved my time so far training with West Cumbria Teaching School Alliance School Direct. The quality of training we have all had is superb and often bespoke to our subject needs. I never knew just how many different ins and outs you needed to know to be a teacher, but WCTSA have it covered.

The year was super organised, the facilitators (especially Tina) for me as a secondary trainee have been incredible and she has continuously gone out of her way to support and guide us in our career. I wouldn’t recommend any other way into teaching for future teachers out there, it’s a tough year but a huge learning curve in terms of teaching and effective ways to succeed as an NQT. The training and time we were given on our training days was delivered perfectly and taught us numerous teaching techniques, it was always very informative and useful. I cannot fault the course and its team in any way, their advice, support and guidance are things that will stay with me for my whole teaching career. Their hard work is extremely appreciated, they have made what should have been one of most challenging years in my teaching career run smoothly and as stress free as it possibly could be. Tina puts her heart and soul into her students and we really couldn’t do it without her, day or night she’s there to answer your questions, no matter how silly they may seem.

The other trainees on the course will now be friends for life, going through our QTS together made us have a bond and we were all in it together. Thank you WCTSA for an amazing experience and stepping stone into teaching, you have helped me grow in confidence and realise teaching is 100% the career for me.

Biology Teacher

My experience at WCTSA has been an immensely positive one. I have been given a lot of support from everyone involved. I have been given above-and-beyond advice and help from my course lead at tutorials and she has been widely available if I ever need to inquire and question about any topic which has been instrumental in my development as a teacher. I have had stupendous support from both of my placement schools as well, with helpful advice and meaningful talks about teaching theory. My overall experience with this course has been exceptional and I don’t regret a second of it.

Art Teacher

The WCTSA has delivered a great programme of training days covering all aspects of pedagogy as well as broader concerns, such as applying for jobs. The course has a small enough cohort that every trainee is seen as an individual and the course coordinator works tirelessly to ensure everyone is getting the best possible experience for their individual needs. Everyone involved with the course has been incredibly supportive and my experiences at both my placement schools have been excellent. I would thoroughly recommend the course to anyone who is thinking of applying for teacher training.

History Teacher

I can’t recommend West Cumbria Teaching School Alliance highly enough. I feel I have been extremely well supported throughout my training year from everyone involved in the alliance- from job searching to moral support and encouragement. The school based training gives you all the hands on experience you could want to feel confident in becoming an NQT. The training days are a great provider of strategies and tools to help you grow into a great teacher. Another benefit of the training days is that you get to visit all the schools in the alliance and get a feel for them and speak to the teachers and senior leaders, which is a great insight for when you are applying for jobs later in the year.
