WLTSA currently has 2 NLEs:

Mr Shaun Monaghan Director Western Lakes Teaching School Alliance based at Keswick School.

Shaun is currently involved in the 2020 School Improvement Offer. He has been supporting schools in Northallerton, Thirsk, Catterick Garrison and Barrow. He is also supporting West Cumbrian Schools in the 2020/2021 COVID Recovery Programme.

Mrs Sam Kidd, Headteacher. Mayfield School, Campus Whitehaven.

Sam is an active NLE who has supported a number of schools across Cumbria in the 2020 School Improvement Offer. She is currently providing additional support to schools in the 2020/21 COVID Recovery Programme.

Our Teaching School has access to other colleagues in our strategic alliance who have a wealth of knowledge and expertise able to provide school improvement across all phases of education, Special, Primary and Secondary.

We encourage Chairs of Governors to apply to become National Leaders of Governance.


What is School Direct?

School Direct is a direct route into teaching, where successful applicants can follow a PGCE (with QTS) course. The main difference to the traditional PGCE course is that you will do a significant amount of your training within a school.
